At our rescue, we are not only dedicated to matching our dogs with the perfect home, we are also dedicated to educating our community about the benefits of spaying and neutering as Dalis herself raised the funds to build a surgical room at our rescue where we host low cost spay and neuter clinics for the public. We are not exclusive to one area or county, in fact many people use our services from all over the state of Michigan and even some out of state including Wisconsin, Ohio, and Indiana. Dalis’ heart belongs to the misunderstood, the old, and the disabled. She always says that her goal is to rescue, but that her dream is that one day she won’t have to.

Sky Sanctuary specialize in the humane capture and rescue of stray, fearful and injured animals from the streets of Phoenix, Arizona, the surrounding desert areas and local shelters. We often rescue the abandoned, lost and forgotten animals. Fiercely advocating for the animals in our care. Often our animals have extensive and complex medical needs that require a profound level of specialty medical care. Not only do we invest in our animal's physical health, we utilize a trusted group of trainers to build confidence, empower and improve our animal's mental well-being in order to live peaceful, happy lives in family homes. We are very different from other animal rescue organizations. We are "boots on the ground" in our community while passionately fight for the dogs and animals no one else has the courage to take on. We have a knack for finding ourselves in pretty breathtaking scenarios- some call it divine intervention, others call it luck. We live by the mantra "if not me then who?". We are funded solely by public donations through social media. We are grateful for the opportunity to help these animals. We would go to any length to #SAVETHESTREETDOGS

55My husband and I founded this rescue in 2015 and in those almost 9 years, we have been humbled daily by the support from people all over who help make this rescue possible. We are the only breed specific doberman rescue in the state and our work is never done! We are honored by this nomination and know this could have a huge impact on our ability to continue our mission. We have helped 100's of dogs find loving forever homes, who would not otherwise have had a second chance in life.
55We have 2 dogs from SHDR and love them both. One is a normal young pup and the other one is an adult. The adult was taken in by SHDR and was a backyard breeder. I am absolutely positive that any other rescue/foster would have given up on her. She will never be like other dogs but she is able to enjoy walks and loves gentle hands on her. We can’t imagine life without them.
Sweet Home Doberman Rescue Logo

Sweet Home Doberman Rescue

Sweet Home Doberman Rescue (SHDR) is the only 501c3, not for profit Doberman rescue organization in Alabama. Founded in 2015, SHDR has committed to the rescue, rehabilitation, and placement of abused, abandoned, and/or neglected Dobermans. It is SHDR's personal mission to assist these magnificent breeds in any way we can. We are dedicated to educating the public as well as future Doberman owners about these majestic, often misunderstood breeds. They are often portrayed as aggressive dogs who will attack at a moment's notice when in fact they are Velcro dogs who are loyal, protective, and want to please their family! A Doberman wants nothing more than to be by your side and on your couch. ‚Äã All SHDR rescues are up to date on their shots, HW tested, microchipped, and spayed or neutered prior to adoption. Some come into rescue injured or abused and it may take a little longer to ready them for a forever home.

55Island of Misfits knows the root of our community’s animal over population problems! They are true warriors for the voiceless! They work tirelessly to voice much needed change & enforcement of state & local laws, codes & enforcement. They take advantage of every adoption event possible, to include a neighboring very rural County shelter that has no help & non stop abandonment. They assist pet owners get low cost spay neuter with option of transporting those animals to a low cost clinic. They have relationships with rescues in states that have animal protected laws, transporting our Community’s unwanted to them. They very carefully screen potential adopters, know breeds and will not allow an animal to go into a home that doesn’t fit. I could go on & on praising them! They are their voice & they are a much needed part of the army to save animals!!
55This rescue has devoted an enormous amount of love, time, energy, and resources to doing all they can for the animals of both Baldwin and Clarke counties. From transporting pets to North US to creating and running a low-cost spay and neuter initiative, they step up to the plate in a big big way. They’re go-getters, and deserve the recognition.

Thank you for visiting the City of Mobile Animal Services website! In August 2021, The City of Mobile began charting a new course to transform how we support people and animals in our City. The creation of a new Animal Services Department under the arm of Administrative Services signified a shift to a modern approach to shelter, control and programs. With a focus on community partnerships, this forward-facing approach works to ensure safe and healthy environments for people and pets. The department promotes responsible pet ownership, implements programs to reduce animal overpopulation, and has formed innovative partnerships and programs to increase the City’s effectiveness in supporting animals and humans in Mobile. As part of this approach, a newly modernized Animal Services facility is currently in design and will be built in a new location central to all parts of the City, and many new positions are also being added to further our mission and programs. We look forward to serving your needs!

55I lost my soul dog unexpectedly and struggled to fill a hole she left. I started to foster with almost there to get my puppy fix in while waiting for the right dog to come along. One of my fosters struggled to get adopted and so I kept him and it has truly been a blessing in disguise. He is the best pup and I can’t believe I almost gave him away. He and his 2 siblings were found in a box in the 115 degree Phoenix heat when the rescue took them in. They were just 4 weeks old. Fun fact, my little man was born without a toe. I’m truly thankful for the rescue taking a chance on those pups.
55A unique rescue in that they take in mama dogs and their puppies, greatly helping reduce the number of families going to the shelter.

No, we don’t go around seeking out malicious, unpleasant women and try to convince them to change their ways (although someone should!). We save dogs. Specifically, homeless, pregnant, large-breed dogs. We scoop those gals up from less than ideal situations and give them a place to birth and raise their pups. We work our tails off to give our pups the medical help, enrichment, socialization, and love that they need on their journeys to finding forever homes.”

Working in conjunction with various clinics, Last Chance AR travels statewide to urban and rural communities to provide comfort, safety, and love to animals in need. Hundreds of lives have been saved through our efforts, which include a spay and neuter program for impoverished pet owners, frequent visits to rescue animals from shelters suffering from a desperate lack of funding, and the complete inability for any of our patient and dedicated volunteers to turn down a creature in need. We serve as a resource to our community and local pet owners by providing education and information on responsible pet ownership including the importance of spay/neuter, positive behavior training and good nutrition. We work with committed volunteers, veterinarians, fosters, and trainers to provide health care and temporary homes to animals deserving of another chance. Our number one priority is ensuring the health of all of our dogs and carefully screening and well matching ‘furever” homes.

What I love most about Golden Rescue South Florida is their unconditional love of all of the goldens they rescue, locally and internationally with no geographic boundaries, no matter the health status nor how dire the circumstances; they never say no to a golden in need. Additionally, the harmony of their superb leadership team--effective and with diverse expertise, gifts and talents--is reflected in the mutually supportive and collaborative relationships they have developed not only among themselves, but with the GRSF family: staff, volunteers, fosters, adopters, and the tremendous support they generate. As the beneficiary of their Breeder Rescue Mission, fostering to adopt a beautiful, loving retired breeder mom, I am profoundly grateful for the extraordinary and unwavering support of the GRSF team, open lines of communication throughout the process, effective guidance, and outstanding online resources they provided, all of which helped us to prepare ourselves and our home and property to receive our golden and respond effectively to issues as they arise. The GRSF team went above and beyond for us and our golden girl. Their website and facebook page are delightful, with charming and compelling posts of dogs available for adoption, capturing the essence of the dogs and their needs so as to attract and select suitable individuals and families to foster and/or adopt, as well as providing updates on facebook of selected rescues. GRSF is the best of the best of rescues due to its leadership and the synergy created to build a strong, devoted, harmonious GRSF family, providing loving homes to goldens in need and receiving boundless love in return from those goldens. Thank you with love and profound gratitude.
55For the past week, my husband and I have been fostering to adopt a 5-year-old retired breeder mom from an Amish breeder farm in Ohio who had just arrived from a two-day transport with other dogs to southeast Florida. GRSF has been extraordinary throughout the entire process, from posting her availability (writing about all the available dogs in an engaging, charming style that captures their essence, circumstances and needs), responding quickly to our interest in her, patiently answering our many questions, sending us her only available medical record, as requested, which was from the spay surgery and vaccinations they had arranged and paid for, keeping open lines of communication by phone/text/email, giving us time (typically 24 hours) to make an infirmed decision, giving her a bath upon arrival with a natural tick and flea shampoo and checking her for ticks and fleas, as I had requested, sending us online resources that are comprehensive and helpful for persons adopting a dog, and talking on the phone to give us invaluable guidance in addressing issues—referring us to the individual on their team with the requisite expertise to best respond. Their leadership is superb. We deeply appreciate their unwavering support, wise counsel, and open lines of communication. We will be officially adopting our beloved dog this week with profound gratitude to GRSF for her and for rescuing her and the many dogs from the Breeder Rescue Mission in the US and internationally. We have been supporters, as we love golden retrievers, and GRSF never says no to rescuing a dog in need, no matter how dire their circumstances, their health status, nor where they are in the world. GRSF is the very best of the best, going above and beyond for the dogs and the persons and families who foster and adopt them.

55I have adopted 5 times from Adopt a Golden Atlanta. They are very thorough and thoughtful in their adoption and matching process. They offer the best care to their dogs. The fosters are loving and really provide wonderful homes for these rescue dogs. Everyone goes to great lengths to make sure that all of the dogs get taken care of and find the right homes. I am always happy to recommend AGA!!!
55Adopt A Golden Atlanta is a very hands on rescue. They are invested in both their rescues and the fosters and volunteers who work with the pups and each other to help our rescues find their forever home. Their follow thru after the adoption is fantastic - and the doors are always open for adopters to reach out for any help or resources that they feel they may need, hereby ensuring that the placement of the pup is comfortable for all parties concerned. The success of AGA is reflected in the number of returning adopters - to add to their furry family or to, when comfortable, to bring another furry baby into their fold after the loss of another. The extended AGA community speaks volumes for the quality and integrity of the organization!!
Adopt a Golden Atlanta Logo

Adopt a Golden Atlanta

Adopt a Golden Atlanta [AGA] is a volunteer, nonprofit organization dedicated to finding warm, loving permanent homes for Golden Retrievers [both purebred and high golden mixes] in order to prevent them from becoming strays or adding to the shelter overpopulation. If a non-golden is best friends with a golden who is surrendered to us, non golden will not be left behind and will accompany the golden into our program and placed with the golden to live together in their new home. Golden Retrievers, regardless of medical needs or age, will receive comprehensive evaluation, spay/neutering services, veterinary care, behavioral training if required, and safe passage into a permanent loving home. In addition to providing those services, Adopt a Golden Atlanta is intent on treating dog owners who are faced with surrendering their dogs with the utmost respect, understanding and compassion. It is also our obligation to educate and assist the metropolitan Atlanta general public, and dog owners specifically, regarding issues such as responsible pet ownership, spay/neutering, obedience training, and veterinary/specialists referrals. Our goal is to reduce the number of Golden Retrievers sent to shelters. AGA will never allow a golden to die in a shelter. AGA relies solely on donations and has a 501(c)(3) classification with the IRS. Your donation is tax deductible. We also meet the requirements for corporate matching, employee giving and volunteer grant programs.

55I have adopted 2 dogs from SGER. Heather’s screening process for both the animal and the adopter insures that it is a good match for all involved. Both of the dogs that I adopted were healthy and perfectly additions to our family. Without Heather and SGER, so many lives wouldn’t be saved and my family, only one of many, would be incomplete.
55Heather Gavitt has taken in so many dogs that were starving and they have flourished under her care. I live vicariously through her. She is dedicated 24/7 365 days a week to the dogs and horses in her care as well as the dogs in her community. She has organized please giveaways for people needing food for their dogs and spent countless hours chasing down dogs that have been thrown out and trapping them and bringing them into rescue. I can't say enough good about Heather. She is deserving of every bit of help that she can get.

55I adopted my Koda from the Idaho Humane Society in October 2023. He had the sweetest face and was listed as a "TLC" adoption which meant some extra screening steps. It started with a phone call to make sure I understood his personality and needs and to see if that would fit with my lifestyle and expectations. Then we scheduled a meet & greet for me and also for my current dog. I met Koda (previously Luca) and 2 staff members coached me through how to interact with him and let him decide if I was his human. Then we went and got my lab, Chauncey, to see if they could be friends. The whole process was over an hour. I loved how dedicated they were to finding the RIGHT home for him. They also gave me a lot of tips on how to make him feel safe and comfortable, how to let him lead interactions and how to read his body language. He has been such a wonderful addition to our home! I also love that they routinely transfer dogs in from other areas to help with medical care and improving their chances of adoption. Koda was found as a stray in a rural part of the state and haf some medical issues. They brought him in, fixed him up, and got him ready for his forever family.

55I started fostering for Homeward Bound in 2020. I quickly fell in love with everything about the rescue. They find forever homes for dogs from every walk of life. They take in dogs that have medical conditions or dogs that may not look “perfect” that were relinquished by breeders, homeless dogs found wandering the streets and in some cases hurt and malnourished. They also take in dogs from kill shelters, many of which are diagnosed with heart worm and need treated before they are available for adoption. For Homeward bound it’s, not just about the dogs they take in. It’s also about setting their dogs up for success with their new homes. They have a strong fostering program. They know that giving a dog the opportunity to live in a foster home prior to adoption sets them up for success. Sometimes they even enroll their dogs into socialization classes. I personally attended a 6 week course with one of my fosters. Homeward Bound also has a very thorough vetting process. I know this because one of my personal dogs was a foster fail. Not only do they ask a lot of questions, they verify that potential adopters are up to date on vaccines & heart worm prevention on dogs they already have & that the dogs have been spay or neutered. For Homeward Bound it’s not just about finding dogs homes, it’s about finding the RIGHT home for their dogs.
55In the past six years, I have adopted two dogs from Homeward Bound Animal Rescue. I believe so much in who they are and what they do that I now volunteer for them. The person who founded this rescue, Jen Schwartz, is nothing short of amazing. She has dedicated her life to saving dogs. Honestly—she does nothing but help dogs 24/7. I wish I could do what she does, but I don’t have the intestinal fortitude to do what she does. She gives it her all—and so do her volunteers. Since Homeward Bound’s inception, they have found homes for over 10,000 dogs! And they’ve done it ALL through volunteers—with no paid staff. Please help Jen and her volunteers continue to do this great work!

Helping Paws also supports other rescues when they have excess supplies and is just trying to make an impact on the animal shelter crisis in the greater Indianapolis area. 55My son and I were involved in the rescue (containment) of a stray dog. Many of us involved were reaching out to contacts at shelters we knew without hearing back. Another rescued took the dog to vet to check for chip and when he didn't have one, she took a chance to drive by Dogs Forever to see if anyone was there and could help out. They took him in without a second thought. My family is very invested in this dog so have been visiting regularly with hopes of foster to adopt. He is happy,, healthy and well cared for. One of the volunteers,Doug has worked with him on basic skills and manners. Volunteers have been so kind to my family and facilitate visits. They also were very thoughtful and playful with a meet and greet with our current dogs (clear idea with 1 dog added at a time, initially all on leash, then our dog off and rescue dog on, then both dogs off, add in our second dog). It felt very safe and controlled. We have applied for foster to adopt, and are confident that if he comes home with us or not, they will find a great home for him!
55I have been a volunteer here for a little over a year. I am so impressed with the level of care and concern this organization puts to making sure each dog is carefully tended to - getting the right medical attention and treatment and making sure the adoption process is thorough and that the final pick ends up as the forever home and family. I feel proud of the work done here and getting to be part of all of it. It's a lot easier than I expected it would be to help with the care of the dogs. Of course I love every single one but I am so glad to get to be a small part of making sure they find their forever family. Getting to see the process and the happy endings makes the work worthwhile.

We are brought together by the dogs that steal our hearts while chewing the shoe collection. Tier Haven Rescue, Inc was originally incorporated in 1996 under the name ARK Project, Inc and is a long standing member of the animal rescue community in Kentucky. Originally an all-breed rescue Tier Haven shifted to focus on working dogs with the rise of breed specific legislation which was leading to larger numbers of German Shepherds, and other working dogs, being euthanized. We are rooted in Kentucky with a strong passion for enacting change within the state which has a long journey towards building our animal welfare laws. Even as breed specific legislation has dwindled there are still large numbers of working dogs finding themselves at risk of euthanasia due to a lack of breed knowledge and/or training. Tier Haven is committed to giving these dogs a second chance and we are all honored to be part of their paths to a better life.

VRC works ceaselessly to give Pit Bulls (and other types of dogs) another chance in life. Each and EVERY dog is taken in and received any and all medical treatment necessary. We work patiently to re-acclimatize fearful dogs to the loving care of a human, so that they may eventually be adopted. In some cases, these dogs have never had a kind word or touch, and it is a slow process. After determining temperaments and compatibility factors, we begin that long search for the perfect home.

55I have adopted 2 wonderful dogs from this shelter. The staff and volunteers spend so much time with the animals socializing them and there are so many community events promoting adoption opportunities. They are a no kill shelter and work hard to care for and find homes for the animals In their care.
55This group brings dogs from kill shelters in North Carolina and brings them to Washington DC. This gives them a chance for a new life. Volunteer fosters bring the dogs home so the dogs can relax and the fosters get to know the dog. There are “meet and greets” each weekend so potential adopters can meet the dogs. They are very careful that the dog gets the best home.

After fostering our first dog from the shelter, they made us realize how easy and rewarding it could be. They provided everything needed and were always available for any questions or issues which led us to fostering many more dogs! It was a no-brainer when we decided to adopt a puppy of our own to go through everyone’s favorite shelter! In addition to offering dog training and affordable vet services, their social media pages are so clever! Through their IG page we were able to find one of our dogs long lost male siblings and now they’re life-long bro-sties! Our shelter deserves this recognition and so much more! 55Three Times the Love, Thanks to Rescue Charlie's Friends! I always knew I wanted to open my heart and home to dogs in need, but I never imagined the incredible journey that awaited me at Rescue Charlie's Friends. It wasn't just one furry friend I found there, but three! From the moment I walked in, the love for these dogs was palpable. The staff was incredibly helpful, patiently guiding me through the adoption process and ensuring the perfect match for all of us. Adopting from Rescue Charlie's Friends wasn't just about gaining three amazing dogs; it was about giving them a second chance at a happy life. Seeing them blossom in their forever home, full of love and joy, is the most rewarding experience. If you're looking to add a furry companion to your life, I can't recommend Rescue Charlie's Friends enough. They have a heart of gold and a passion for finding loving homes for dogs in need. You might just walk in looking for one dog, but you might leave with three times the love, just like me!
Rescue Charlie's Friends Logo

Rescue Charlie's Friends

Rescue Charlie’s Friends was established in 2018 because we love dogs and want them to have the best life possible. Many dogs lost their homes due to fire, floods or hurricanes. Others have been abandoned, neglected or abused. Whatever the cause, our mission is to rescue them and match them with a loving forever family. Most of our dogs come from high-kill shelters. The shelters do the best they can but due to limited facilities, dogs can’t stay long. Dogs must be moved out quickly or be put down. These are Charlie’s Friends. These are the dogs that we focus on. We stay in touch with shelters and volunteers in Texas, Florida, Georgia, Alabama, and elsewhere. We bring the dogs to Maine where Fosters care for them until they are adopted. We rescue as many dogs as we can but we always need more help.

55We drove 3 hours to adopt from this rescue. They do not just allow anyone to rescue, they are diligent and very careful in their decisions so they know these pups will lead a fulfilling and happy life. We were grateful to have been chosen to adopt with them and still stay in touch 4 years later. They care endlessly for their rescues, raising money for surgeries and medical expenses to help save innocent doggy lives. I love seeing the miracles they make happen through dedication and community support.

Key to lions heart rescue Logo

Key to lions heart rescue

Key to Lion’s Heart Rescue was founded in January 2018 in honor of Lion, a dog who made a tremendous impact on so many lives. Lion was dumped at a very high kill shelter where his time was up. Without knowing his past, he was pulled by a rescue and placed into a home. Lion was then moved nine times over the course of one year in an effort to find the right home. Unfortunately, the second to last move was that one that forever changed his soul. Just like people, dogs have a breaking point, and Lion had reached his. He had been through more in one year than any dog should ever have to go through in a lifetime. His last move was to a home where he was loved and cared for by a handful of people, his advocates for many months. Unfortunately, it was too late. The pain and suffering he had endured in some of his previous places was more than Lion could overcome. The light in his eyes was gone and he was suffering. In the arms of the people who loved him dearly, we whispered our goodbyes and told him how much we loved him. Humans had failed him. As we kissed him goodbye, we promised Lion that we would do our best to ensure no dog would ever have to endure what he had in his last year. At that moment, we dedicated ourselves to unlocking hope for all dogs by giving a little piece of our hearts to every single one that we can save.

55So many senior dogs have been given a 2nd chances thanks to Reed’s Rescue. It’s easy to place puppies in homes. It takes a special organization to rescue the older dogs put out to pasture and find them their final forever home.
55Being part of Reed’s Rescue for the past 20 months has been amazing! The rescue is 100% volunteer and to witness what we can do with passion, dedication, and big hearts is life changing. We work with senior and fospice dogs. I’ve seen how saving a senior life has not only impacted the pup yet saved a human…from loneliness, heartbreak, or even making the existing household a little more loving. Senior dogs definitely do not get enough attention and are easily the first ones to go, especially with the rise of surrendered dogs, it’s extra hard to see a dog who has been with a family it’s entire life to be left on the steps of a shelter. Scared. Confused. Forgotten. But Reed’s Rescue doesn’t forget. We work tirelessly to spring these seniors, no matter their condition or the medical cost, and work to find them a forever match. It’s a beautiful reminder that no matter how poorly the pup was cared for, or forgotten in the middle of the night, that it still has so much love to give. We want to be able to allow the senior pups to love until the end.

We are dedicated to saving abandoned, neglected, and abused dogs from high-kill shelters in Central Arkansas and beyond. Though our rescue efforts are focused in the Central Arkansas area, we also serve as a resource for local dog surrenders, shelters, and special rescue efforts in other areas. We don’t discriminate on the basis of age, pre-existing medical conditions, or breed, because every dog deserves to know love. As the literal “last hope” of the dogs we serve, our southern fosters pull dogs and puppies from partner shelters in Arkansas. While in foster, each dog receives love, care, and medical treatment, then receives a health clearance and transports to New England. After a mandatory 48-hour quarantine stay and an additional health clearance, each dog is picked up and fostered by a northern foster family who serves as a gateway to his/her adoptive home, affectionately known as a FURever home.

55Always takes on special cases that other rescues won't..Very skilled volunteers who go beyond for the animals. Love them all.
55I have been blessed to be trusted to foster "fail" twice with A Rejoyceful Animal Rescue. First was my bestest boy Charlie I fostered to adopt in 2014, I loved him beyond all and had too little time with him. We took many, many walks - he loved to go up toe Lexington to visit my friend and walk along the lake. He also loved to eat and I loved to treat him! Sadly, at age 7 he developed diabetes and in November 2021 he crossed the Rainbow Bridge at age only 9. I was so distraught and did not know if I would get over Charlie and then I started looking for a special dog who might really need me and that is when I saw Goldie. Her human has gone into hospice and 10 year old Goldie was with a foster with ARAR. After a conversation with Michelle (the amazing director of ARAR), I contacted the foster and February 20 2022 Goldie became next foster to adopt. She had severe separation anxiety and lucky for me my boss was understanding and Goldie was able to accompany me everyday. The only complaint we got was from one of the departments that said Goldie doesn't spend enough time with them! Here we are two years later, she's really come out of her shell. She sassses me with the cutest "chomp" movement and big doggo smile! Everyone who meets her loves her, and learn to belly rub immediately. I only wish I could adopt more furbabies, especially the seniors because this has been pure JOY!
A Rejoyceful Animal Rescue Logo

A Rejoyceful Animal Rescue

Here at ARAR, we see our shelter as a safe transition point for many animals in need. Our goal is to keep animals in our shelter for the least amount of time possible. It is just a place for them to crash before their next step into a foster or adoptive home. Currently, we have about 30 cats and 10 dogs in our shelter. We do our best to make the animal's time here the best it can be. When they are in their kennels we play calming doggie music and they get enrichment actives. As we do not have a fenced in yard area outside, on nice days we schedule SniffSpots for our shelter residents! It is a great way that they can explore a new space and get some energy out.

Heart of Michigan Bernese Mountain Dog Rescue Logo

Heart of Michigan Bernese Mountain Dog Rescue

Rescues are frequent. Re-homings are more frequent. Re-homings differ from rescues in the fact that we will have a history of the dog and its need. Puppies don’t normally need to be placed until they get bigger than the owner had intended and therefore are not as common in rescue. Please keep in mind that most “rescue/rehome dogs” are placed because of behavioral problems, most, but not all. Many of the dog’s issues were due to lack of training and socialization. Most problems can be addressed and corrected in a stable and loving home. If you really want a Berner, do tons of research. Our advice is to attend shows, join a BMD club and research breeders. If you would like to be considered for a rescue or re-homing, please read our policy’s on the Adopting page. The mission of the HMBMD Rescue program is to take in dogs of Bernese Mountain Dog parentage that are in shelters, surrendered by their owners, or that have become lost and abandoned, and to place them in permanent pet homes in order to help provide a safe harbor that they might otherwise be destroyed or abandoned.

We are celebrating our 6th year in rescue and have saved over 3,400 dogs to date. When we reflect on that number we think that each one of those dogs had a foster hero that YES to saving them! We think about all the visits to the vet, the training, the full food bowls, walks, belly rubs, and all the healing that was given to each of them through the love and safety we were able to provide. Knowing that we were able to help them heal and be ready to love their forever family is a blessing beyond compare. Our storybook is filled with all the Warrior Dogs who have come into our lives and forever imprinted on our hearts. The Warrior Dog family continues to save these sweet souls because they all deserve to the know the gift of love and safety. There is still work to be done and by the grace and selflessness of our volunteer and foster teams, along with our generous donors we will continue. There are so many pups even as you read this that are alone and sick, abandoned in kill shelters and on roadsides, living a life filled with fear and abuse. We are steadfast in our commitment to continue to make a difference, one dog at a time.

55Stray Rescue provides foster care and rescue services for so many stray dogs that are found on the streets of STL. They offer wonderful training classes (my dog is reactive, and they understood!) and puppy play dates twice a week which is oh so helpful for new puppy parents. I am thankful to have them in my city, as they work tirelessly and advocate for those animals who cannot themselves.
55I volunteered at Stray Rescue when I lived in St. Louis for a year. Every day, I was there volunteering alongside the caregivers. Now, living back in Indiana, I still volunteer when I go back to visit. I have seen first hand, behind the scenes, the great work they do. They take the dogs who have been shot, left, forgotten, neglected, the list goes on. They keep dogs for as long as they need a space because of the amazing volunteers they have through their Rehabilitation Enrichment Program who take each dog, even if not the most social on long walks, car rides, park visits - wherever the dog will be most comfortable for extended time out of the shelter. They have countless fosters but as with any rescue, can always use more. The dogs are the number one focus and the staff is amazing. My only downside is they’re in St. Louis and I’m not as close by any more. However, I’m still very connected and admire all the work they do. They are working on a new, larger facility to not just continue the good they do but increase their capacity. I love Stray Rescue. They are my family.

55This organization started as a grass roots organization bringing awareness to the chained backyard dog. It has since educated the public of the many detriments of chaining a dog and has spread the word and now people do not just pass by saying ‘poor dog’ they know there is support and help for this dog. UMDR is solely responsible for this awareness and is proud to know that many other organizations have brought this rescue effort into it’s fold. They continue to move forward with many programs and outreach for their community and beyond.
55While I adopted Lynyrd through another rescue in town, Unchained Melodies Dog Rescue is really who helped me become a better and more educated dog mom. As a 1st time dog mom, Lynyrd & I didn't speak the same language and I and took to the internet to find some videos that could help me train but they were not how I wanted to train my pup. I remember coming home from a challenging walk, closing myself in the bathroom, and crying because these videos were all about using aversive training and I didn't want to hurt him. Why would anyone want to hurt an animal especially one that was abandoned and possibly abused? I had fleeting thoughts of rehoming him because I didn't feel that I would be able to train him and I didn't want anything terrible to happen to him because all the "training" I was doing was not helping. Enter Unchained Melodies. They have amazing training classes and are R+/Force & Fear Free. The classes were easy to understand and follow along. What a complete difference it made not just for Lynyrd but for myself as well. I was now equipped with the tools to be able to successfully train my pup! We have taken so many training classes through Unchained Melodies and I just signed us up for the Canine Good Citizen Course through UMDR. They become invested in ensuring that you and your pup are set up for success. Kai Murphy, who is one of SniffSpots top trainers in Missouri, is the trainer at Unchained Melodies Dog Rescue and he is amazing at what he does. As a rescue, I have witnessed the tremendous work that they put in as a rescue org. They dedicate their lives to freeing chained or penned dogs and put in so much work to rehabilitate the pups so they can live inside where they are supposed to. They advocate for the animals in their care by vetting the adoption candidates and ensuring that there is a fit between pup and adopters. They will also help other rural shelters by taking in pups, often pregnant mommas, and finding them good homes. I wish I would clearly articulate all the good that I have seen from this Rescue. I will always support their efforts through donating, attending events in and around town or by taking classes through them. In all of the amazing rescues out there, Unchained Melodies Dog Rescue is at the top of the list. Whether someone wants to adopt their new BFF, attend training classes, take part in one of many special events around Columbia, or simply donate time and/or money to help support a rescue, I would absolutely recommend Unchained Melodies Dog Rescue.

55An immediate family member recently passed away leaving behind a 9 yr old dog we sadly cannot take. It has been heart breaking trying to find him a home. Although Second Chance is full, and Rocky would decline in a shelter setting, Second Chance has been very supportive doing courtesy postings & posting to their website, offering suggestions, checking in on us, and referring people our way. They have also offered advice and anyway that they can help. They have truly kept me going and helped me keep the faith for rehoming my relatives sweet soul of a dog.
55I've been following Dalis to the rescue for several years now and it's a remarkable rescue organization with the well being of the animal being number one. Dalis makes sure every home is a good fit for the animal and the animal is a good fit for the home. She goes above and beyond for her rescue animals and for people needing help as well. I know a few great, deserving rescues but I really think after all Dalis continues to sacrifice mentally, financially and physically on the daily makes her so much more deserving. We need more people in the world like dalis!!

55If you ever get the chance to visit Over the Hill Senior Dog Sanctuary you should take it, upon walking in the door you will be greeted by at least 10 very happy dogs. The (mostly) senior dogs are given the chance to experience the "couch dog" life that some dogs never get the chance to. Brianna puts her heart, soul and everything she has into the dogs (and a few cats) in her care. Most of this is done all on her own with a very select few that she trusts to call in for help. If you wanted a picture of what rescue can be, Over the Hill is it.
55I've seen over the hill around our community for years, they're always at events, trying to spread awareness and help the cause. Volunteering to help get dogs to appointments and such has shown me nothing but the sweetest happiest dogs. You would never know it's a rescue, you'd swear it was just some crazy young girl with all her dog kids. They're just a giant family doing one of the hardest jobs I can possibly imagine.

55I have volunteered at Animal Rescue Foundation for 31 years. I love the fact that it’s a no-kill shelter and 100% volunteer. Most of the volunteers work a full time job besides volunteering. We are there because we love animals. There are volunteers 365 days a year. We’re a real devoted team of caring individuals. The annual meals are treated as if they are our own. They get playtime in the big backyard and walked twice a day. Speaking for myself, I feel each one of the dogs is my own dog.
55I've been volunteering at ARF for 7 years. During that time I've seen an amazing # of dogs find good homes. They work with the dogs to help make them adoptable, and sponsor a number of wonderful community and fundraising events, such as a rabies clinic, 5K run, and (my favorite) pictures with Santa around Xmas. It's all- volunteer, no-kill. Both of my dogs are ARF rescues!

We grew to love Sumter so much that we pondered the idea of adopting one of our own if it could be like him. 55TMAR is an amazing organization. Keith Benning and his crew do an incredible job rescuing animals in the harshest of conditions, treating and nursing injured animals back to health and finding forever homes for them. They are not only saving dogs and cats, they are also helping their community by offering services like spay and neuter clinics and free vaccinations. They are in the process of building a bigger and better rescue so they can help more animals. I admire TMAR’s dedication and their tireless efforts to help the helpless.
55I found TMAR one day on Facebook right after both my parents died in early 2020. I was already a pet lover having had 7 dogs and 2 cats at the same time for several years. The uniqueness of this rescue, it’s back story, and it’s unwillingness to give up has kept me supporting them since then. They have a global following for their rescue in their sparsely populated part of upper eastern North Dakota. Terrible weather, rural communities with little resources, and non existent state concerns for animal safety and welfare are daily problems they face. And yet they keep on going. They have been building a large new facility for two years that they are paying for as they go. We all help to finance this along with our rescue support. TMAR wants the youth of their area to participate in the animal care when the facility opens. They are a fabulous organization doing their best to help the unwanted and stray animals in their part of ND. They are worthy of any praise and financial help they get. ❤️

The dog was found with a broken right rear leg and was going to red lined due to severity of the break. Jennifer Alcorn got pictures of him heard his rescue story and paid for his surgery where they removed is leg. He did his recovery in a foster home until he was able to travel to Brookings, OR where I got adopt him and now Maizy is Dukes bossy older sister and Duke is her goofy younger very energetic dog on the legs who runs the wind living there best life loving on everyone that will let them. I have never heard a complaint about south coast and would refer them above any rescue. They feel like home and work around the clock to place animals ALL animals into loving homes. We pledge to maintain a community of volunteers who treat each other, and the dogs they rescue, with respect, courtesy, kindness and love. We will seek always to lend encouragement and to support one another, and to facilitate friendly collaboration and cooperation between our volunteers. We believe that by building a supportive, dog-centered organization founded on respect, honesty and integrity, we will always remain focused on the welfare of the Brittanys entrusted to our care and hold their interests uppermost in our hearts and minds. Our mission is to place these dogs in safe, loving and permanent homes with approved applicants, and to provide a supportive network for our volunteers, who after all, make our goals possible.

55I've been volunteering with The Hotel for Homeless Dogs since last Fall and have had a great experience with them! Everyone is super friendly and professional. The dogs are so well cared for and loved. The kennels are clean and the building is colorful and fun. They get lots of treats, pup cups, and kongs too! They also have a volunteer program where you can take the dogs for walks or playdates. And of course, they're always looking for fosters to open up more space so they can save more dogs! They had a few instances recently with flooding from the local river, but the amazing community pulled through and helped them get back on their feet. Highly recommend this shelter if you're looking for a dog or looking to support a local rescue!

55Lucky Pup is an amazing rescue! When we lost our 14 yr old lab we knew we wanted to add another dog to our family. The volunteers at LPR made the process so smooth & helped match the dog that was a perfect fit for our family! Because all of the dogs are in foster homes, their fosters know their personalities & habits & this helps make sure that each dog is going to the best home possible to fit their individual needs. I cannot recommend this rescue enough, whether you are looking to foster or adopt!

55I have been a foster at Almost Home Canine Rescue for about a year. The entire organization is run on volunteers, from medication mentors, the social media team, application screening…. all the way up to the director herself. Every single penny goes back to the animals and nobody takes a dime for themselves. The entire organization has a collective goal: making sure the animals are safe, well taken care of, and go to loving homes. Every animal is spayed/neutered and up to date on vaccinations. The rescue even works with different trainers to help with the doggos that struggle with different things like socialization or basic obedience. They carefully screen potential adopters, fosters, and volunteers to ensure it is a good fit. Every single animal adopted out by Almost Home has been cared for, loved, and prepared for having a forever home. I will only recommend Almost Home to anyone looking to rescue an animal because I know first hand the amount of care that goes into each and every fur baby.
55Workers tirelessly give of their time and pour their hearts into helping dogs from all over the state. They celebrate when pups are adopted, and hearts break when things don't go so well. They take in so many and never, ever, give up.

55We adopted our dog Rocket - FKA Wyatt - from friends for life mid-covid and loved the experience. We were originally thinking about another dog at their shelter and FFL was honest about some.of the challenges we might have with that dog and ended up decided it was best with another family. I appreciated their commitment to finding the best home for each dog. We had the 7 day "trial" period with our now dog and really appreciated having that time to make sure he would work with our family. On the first day of the trial we noticed our dog had an infected cyst on his neck and FFL was quick to help us get it taken care of. Couldn't have asked for a better experience or dog to have joined our family.

55Regardless of their intake volume, Fort Worth Animal Care and Control does not let that stop them from going above and beyond for every animal in their care. These measures range from placing dogs into foster homes or with rescues, sending animals on transports out of state or even connecting dog owners with appropriate resources to allow them to keep their pet.
55Many people think of municipal shelters as being quite grim with a high kill rate, but FWACC goes against every stereotype and works hard to make sure healthy animals all go to good homes. I have adopted my dog from them as well as volunteered with them in the past and the people of FWACC are so dedicated and caring for every animal in their care, partnering with community rescues both within the metroplex and state, and even across the country to transport animals to find home if necessary. Everyone from the front desk staff up to the top are so kind and helpful when you go in. They also do a lot of work to help people get access to vet care and pet food so they may not have to surrender pets due to financial hardship. Overall, just a great civic organization

The work that Arctic Rescue does is so important because it seems people don't know what they are getting into when they first adopt an Arctic breed. Arctic Rescue works hard to educate people on the breeds and encourage working with these dogs through any difficulties that they are facing so that the true spirit of the animals can be seen.
55Arctic rescue does a great job of getting huskies out of shelters. Especially ones that are not doing well. For such a smart, high energy breed it is so sad to see them caged in a kennel for hours on end. Their team of amazing fosters work together to help these wonderful dogs find good homes!

The purpose of the Organization shall be: To rescue, rehabilitate, and rehome arctic breed dogs in need, including but not limited to breeds such as Siberian Huskies, Alaskan Malamutes, Samoyeds and mixed breeds of the aforementioned. To provide basic medical care, spaying/neutering, and vaccinations to rescued dogs. Rescue Rovers uniquely support their fosters, are committed to ALWAYS spaying and neutering (including puppies), help make sure the dogs have successful descriptions and photos for their best shot of finding a home, and commit to finding great matches with processes that are meaningful and not just performative. They also often take in dogs who no one else will, and commit to dogs forever if adoptions don’t work out. 55I've been a follower and supporter of Motley Zoo for many years. I've continually been impressed by their efforts to educate, support, and fund raise in order to provide healthcare, rehabilitation, and housing for the animals they rescue. After following their adoption and education efforts for meant years, I was able to adopt a perfect Malti-poo from them 5 weeks ago. I was so impressed by the thoroughness of the adopter vetting process that I fell when deeper in love with this group and felt blessed to have been approved to adopt. I visited their location to meet (and bring home) my baby and was in awe of the kennel set up. There was a huge, fenced area for the large dogs they were fostering in site. There's also a boarding facility on location. The location and staff are so impressive that I wish I could adopt another. I will always refer anyone asking about adopting to Motley Zoo. I can't say enough good things!

Motley Zoo Animal Rescue is the revolution of rescue. As a rock and roll-themed, foster-based, volunteer-powered rescue, we take in animals that have no one else. "Animals" primarily means dogs and cats, but as the name "zoo" implies, we take all kinds (as long as we have a foster home/ resources for that species). We work with shelters and owners who cannot keep their pets and through extensive veterinary care and training, we rehabilitate them and place them in loving, forever homes where the animals will never again be abandoned. More than 30% of the animals we take in are special or medically needy and require more extensive and expensive care. In all we work with all ages, breeds, many species and all different types of humans too- treating each as an individual so they can find the life and love they deserve.

55Amazing organization! Invested in saving dogs from around our state and the country!
55Fetch has changed my life by giving me the opportunity to adopt my best friends. On top of that, I've gotten so many opportunities to grow as an individual through fostering and coordination opportunities within the organization. Absolutely unmatched mentoring and support structure.

55I have been helping out The Hope Highway for about 2 years now. They are an amazing foster based rescue in the area that not only helps out death row dogs from the south but also local surrenders which have reached an all time high recently. They are helping families in difficult financial situations be able to possibly keep their fur family members if possible or find new loving homes if needed. They take on many expensive medical situations that many other rescues just don't take the time for. This rescue is one that deserves any help it can and I can guarantee that it will all go right back to helping these dogs that so need it.
55Jill and her crew The Hope Highway are consistently stepping up for the underdogs and the dogs that need medical help.

The Hope Highway

The Hope Highway is completely foster based. We pride ourselves on helping dogs and their people. We do what we can to help people keep their dogs in their home and not surrender. We also have a spay and neuter program that we also offer to the community at an affordable cost.

55We have adopted cats from CHA for for a long time - have gotten our best friends 7 times. The first concern is for the wellbeing of the resident rescues. The staff has always been so helpful and friendly, very helpful choosing the right kitty. The volunteers are vital to keeping the shelter running and are right there to keep all the cats and dogs well and happy. I've been going to CHA for 40 years and it has been equally well run over the years. When you walk into CHA - you will be amazed that it smells so fresh and clean - not at all like some shelters. Come visit and rescue your next furever family member.

Thousand Oaks, California has been a safe haven for Sniffspot host, Jen, since childhood. Having grown up in busy Santa Barbara, Jen, an introvert from an early age, would seek out solitude and serenity away from tourists attractions and droves of people visiting from elsewhere. “My grandparents own 60 acres about a 30 minute drive from here, and I grew up spending every summer and every holiday visiting them on the ranch,” Jen explained. “In Santa Barbara, we wouldn't go to the beach on the weekend because that's where everybody was, so you'd find places off the beaten path where the tourists weren't. For me, the ranch was just my happy place.”
