55I have always wanted a husky and a good friend of mine mentioned I should look into adopting one of these sweet babies. After some research, I found Texas Husky Rescue. I reached out to them and they helped me along the way to adopting my very own Husky! They took great care of us and made sure we were a perfect match! My husky's name is Holo (fka Natasha) and she is a piebald pattern sweetheart!
55Texas Husky Rescue is so deserving of additional help for all the good work they do for animals!

Texas Husky Rescue, Inc. was created in May 2009 as a non-profit 501(c)3 animal rescue organization that is run entirely by volunteers and does not have a paid staff or a shelter. Texas Husky Rescue, Inc relies solely on volunteer foster families to take huskies into their homes until permanent, qualified, and loving homes can be found. Texas Husky Rescue, Inc. is a responsible animal adoption agency and ensures that none of our dogs will ever contribute to the overpopulation of dogs in our community. The work of Texas Husky Rescue, Inc. is supported by tax-deductible contributions by individuals, corporations, and grants. Our initial goal when we began in 2009 was to save 30 huskies from area shelters. We have rescued over 2,500 and counting.

55Regardless of their intake volume, Fort Worth Animal Care and Control does not let that stop them from going above and beyond for every animal in their care. These measures range from placing dogs into foster homes or with rescues, sending animals on transports out of state or even connecting dog owners with appropriate resources to allow them to keep their pet.
55Many people think of municipal shelters as being quite grim with a high kill rate, but FWACC goes against every stereotype and works hard to make sure healthy animals all go to good homes. I have adopted my dog from them as well as volunteered with them in the past and the people of FWACC are so dedicated and caring for every animal in their care, partnering with community rescues both within the metroplex and state, and even across the country to transport animals to find home if necessary. Everyone from the front desk staff up to the top are so kind and helpful when you go in. They also do a lot of work to help people get access to vet care and pet food so they may not have to surrender pets due to financial hardship. Overall, just a great civic organization

55My daughter and I volunteered at HSNT for 6 years. The shelter keeps the animals until they are adopted The staff are responsible and caring. The facility is clean and well maintained. They do everything trying to create a good environment for the animals there when they were waiting to be adopted. We were happy every time when we saw dogs/cats got adopted. We had a wonderful memories volunteering there. I ended up adopting a dog from there and one of the best things I am glad I did..
55They have a robust staff and clinic to support you through your entire fostering journey. And also are there for support when you foster-fail and adopt. My best boy is adopted from HSNT!

55I volunteer with DAS and also a local private rescue group. I see all the time how resource constrained DAS is being a municipal shelter. Friends of DAS (FODAS) fills in so many gaps where the city funding is not enough. FODAS is a true grassroots group. It’s run by active volunteers in the shelter who saw and need and did something about it. Being one of the top 10 largest shelters in the country, DAS has a huge animal population (1,359 as of today). Issues come up quick. If the A/C goes out FODAS will swoop in and get cooling pads and fans that day. If there is a disease outbreak and they need to get 100 dogs adopted in a weekend to clear space for separation- FODAS provides incentive gift cards. There are so many more examples. FODAS is an example of people seeing gaps in the community and doing something about it- making stuff happen.

Thousand Oaks, California has been a safe haven for Sniffspot host, Jen, since childhood. Having grown up in busy Santa Barbara, Jen, an introvert from an early age, would seek out solitude and serenity away from tourists attractions and droves of people visiting from elsewhere. “My grandparents own 60 acres about a 30 minute drive from here, and I grew up spending every summer and every holiday visiting them on the ranch,” Jen explained. “In Santa Barbara, we wouldn't go to the beach on the weekend because that's where everybody was, so you'd find places off the beaten path where the tourists weren't. For me, the ranch was just my happy place.”
