55I started fostering for Homeward Bound in 2020. I quickly fell in love with everything about the rescue. They find forever homes for dogs from every walk of life. They take in dogs that have medical conditions or dogs that may not look “perfect” that were relinquished by breeders, homeless dogs found wandering the streets and in some cases hurt and malnourished. They also take in dogs from kill shelters, many of which are diagnosed with heart worm and need treated before they are available for adoption. For Homeward bound it’s, not just about the dogs they take in. It’s also about setting their dogs up for success with their new homes. They have a strong fostering program. They know that giving a dog the opportunity to live in a foster home prior to adoption sets them up for success. Sometimes they even enroll their dogs into socialization classes. I personally attended a 6 week course with one of my fosters. Homeward Bound also has a very thorough vetting process. I know this because one of my personal dogs was a foster fail. Not only do they ask a lot of questions, they verify that potential adopters are up to date on vaccines & heart worm prevention on dogs they already have & that the dogs have been spay or neutered. For Homeward Bound it’s not just about finding dogs homes, it’s about finding the RIGHT home for their dogs.
55In the past six years, I have adopted two dogs from Homeward Bound Animal Rescue. I believe so much in who they are and what they do that I now volunteer for them. The person who founded this rescue, Jen Schwartz, is nothing short of amazing. She has dedicated her life to saving dogs. Honestly—she does nothing but help dogs 24/7. I wish I could do what she does, but I don’t have the intestinal fortitude to do what she does. She gives it her all—and so do her volunteers. Since Homeward Bound’s inception, they have found homes for over 10,000 dogs! And they’ve done it ALL through volunteers—with no paid staff. Please help Jen and her volunteers continue to do this great work!

55I have adopted (2) and fostered for Helping Paws. I have also been a small part of the organization volunteering and really enjoyed working with them. Everyone there is committed to seeing the animals happy, healthy and in a safe loving home.
55Helping Paws goes above and beyond to support no only the animals in its care, but the fosters who dedicate their time and energy to help animals in need. Helping Paws does not discriminate. They take all breeds, ages, sizes. Additionally, they take on a lot of medical cases who would normally be euthanized if not for them stepping in. Helping Paws also supports other rescues when they have excess supplies and is just trying to make an impact on the animal shelter crisis in the greater Indianapolis area. I am a former adopter, current foster, volunteer, and supporter of the rescue and I am thankful to be apart of a group of people who put so much effort into helping all of the paws that we can.

55NLSDR is an amazing rescue. They kept our boy Rufus safe for 3 years before we adopted him! The adopters seem to do a great job sharing updates of the alumni, which always says a lot about a rescue!
55I have no personal experience, but have seen their name many times as a rescuer at a kill shelter. If they did not pull these dogs then they would be euthanized! We are in crisis with so many animals being surrendered. I have no idea how our society got to this point to be so irresponsible and heartless to animals.

The Humane Society of Hobart (HSH) is a nonprofit animal shelter on a mission to build and strengthen pet families and has been saving the lives of homeless pets since 1954. We are small , but mighty! In 2023 alone, HSH sheltered more than 2,500 homeless pets, provided services to more than 1,000 pet families in need of resources and supplies, and returned 253 lost pets to their owners. We work alongside law enforcement when there is an emergency or criminal situation and animals are present. After law enforcement has secured the scene, we proceed to rescue the animals. Sometimes we work with the Indiana State Veterinarian to methodically document all that is needed to care for the animals or prosecute if neglect and cruelty is suspected. The staff and volunteers are true warriors that lead with courage and compassion, daily meeting the challenge of many animals coming to our door in need of emergency medical care and shelter.

55FWPBC is just the best! I initially signed on to foster a dog. I immediately fell in love with our sweet foster dog, and decided to adopt her. Right from the start, FWPBC helped with supplies, vaccines, spaying… all things I was grateful for as a new dog owner, and within a few short months we happily adopted our sweet girl. FWPBC does so much good in our community, and truly care about providing quality care and love to these dogs, and supporting the families.

We are now functioning as a rescue and are excited to be able to offer wonderful pitbulls in need of forever homes. We are still a very small group and are in need of fosters and donors to continue helping pit bulls in need. Please keep in mind that we are unable to help every pit bull in need, but we do strive to help as many as we can.

Thousand Oaks, California has been a safe haven for Sniffspot host, Jen, since childhood. Having grown up in busy Santa Barbara, Jen, an introvert from an early age, would seek out solitude and serenity away from tourists attractions and droves of people visiting from elsewhere. “My grandparents own 60 acres about a 30 minute drive from here, and I grew up spending every summer and every holiday visiting them on the ranch,” Jen explained. “In Santa Barbara, we wouldn't go to the beach on the weekend because that's where everybody was, so you'd find places off the beaten path where the tourists weren't. For me, the ranch was just my happy place.”

Dalis To The Rescue thumbnail

Dalis To The Rescue

At our rescue, we are not only dedicated to matching our dogs with the perfect home, we are also dedicated to educating our community about the benefits of spaying and neutering as Dalis herself raised the funds to build a surgical room at our rescue where we host low cost spay and neuter clinics for the public. We are not exclusive to one area or county, in fact many people use our services from all over the state of Michigan and even some out of state including Wisconsin, Ohio, and Indiana. Dalis’ heart belongs to the misunderstood, the old, and the disabled. She always says that her goal is to rescue, but that her dream is that one day she won’t have to.
