55I have adopted to special needs dogs from SCHS. One was deaf and an owner surder, the second one was a transferred rescue from CA. The dog was found with a broken right rear leg and was going to red lined due to severity of the break. Jennifer Alcorn got pictures of him heard his rescue story and paid for his surgery where they removed is leg. He did his recovery in a foster home until he was able to travel to Brookings, OR where I got adopt him and now Maizy is Dukes bossy older sister and Duke is her goofy younger very energetic dog on the legs who runs the wind living there best life loving on everyone that will let them. I didn't save them. They saved me. So grateful SCHS gives special needs dogs a second chance 🙏 ❤️
55This is the BEST rescue! The staff is so kind and really cares about the animals and being kind to adopters or anyone who may have to surrender their pets. I’ve been to other rescue’s that you can tell are grouchy and tired and more worried about policy’s than about helping animals. I have never heard a complaint about south coast and would refer them above any rescue. They feel like home and work around the clock to place animals ALL animals into loving homes. We adopted from them 2 years ago and I will go back every time I’m ready to give a new animal a home. You think all people that work with animals would be earth angles but south coast actually embodies this.

55I have known and worked with Mark and Jane Gilbert for 15 years. I run a non-profit animal rescue and sanctuary of my own. A New Leash on Life has been a labor of love for Mark and Jane who have poured their hearts and an immeasurable amount of their own money into providing safe and humane transport for shelter animals and the food bank and so many other services and support to our community. They also help rescues and shelters in California. They are the most dedicated and giving people I have ever known. They deserve some recognition for their many years of dedication and kindness and generosity!
55A new leash on life is amazing, they were helpful and nice when I contacted them looking for more info on my rescue. They rescue tons of dogs and I wouldn't have my loki today if it wasn't for their efforts 3-4 years ago.
A New Leash on Life Pet Rescue and Transport Logo

A New Leash on Life Pet Rescue and Transport

Our love for all animals, big and small, runs deep. Our rescue efforts began while healing from the sadness of losing our 13-year-old Golden Retriever, Ruby. The healing began with a phone call from a friend nearly 1,000 miles away: ”Can you help us?” It was that desperate plea that opened our eyes to a problem that isn’t going away anytime soon. Pet overpopulation, animal abuse, neglect, and abandonment affect all of us and the communities we live in. Through our transports, we are able to save these animals from being euthanized in high kill shelters by carrying them to the safety of our rescue network. Dog Rescue is all about teamwork. Each life saved represents countless hours of collaboration between volunteers and rescue organizations. Currently, our network spans the I-5 Corridor, from the Mexican to Canadian borders. Here, these various agencies provide the training, medical care, and fostering to help find a happy, healthy, and loving home for the dogs to live in for the rest of their lives. As of April 2024, over 11,800 dogs (and many cats) have been transported. In addition to transport, we work with several pet food suppliers to secure donated food for animals in our community. Donated food, supplies, and treats are distributed to food banks, shelters, rescue agencies, churches, veterans and the homeless. In the sweet spirit of Ruby, we wake up every day with the hope of giving these animals a new leash on life.

55My husband and I had been talking about getting another dog for a while now. We lost our last to the Rainbow Bridge just over two years ago (at age 17). We have a personal connection to one of the staffers at 4 All Mutt Kind and she sent us suggestions about dogs that might suit us. We picked Levi, a Patterdale Terrier, age about 2 years. He immediately became family and we are so happy with him. The process to adopt was very straight-forward and we would highly recommend contacting 4 All Mutt Kind if you are in the Northwest and looking for that special family member. They are sure to match you with just the right pet.
55I applied to be a foster to a special pup that was having issues with men. Since I am a single female it was a perfect fit. Before Venus was brought to my house I had training to go through. I was impressed with the training the had be go thru they answered all questions. The staff that run 4 All Mutt Kind are very knowledgeable the handling of dogs and puppies. They are very thorough in vetting foster as well as adoptees. They make sure the pup is going to a forever home are a creditable foster. They continue to care for the life of the dog. A lot of places say you adopted it’s up to you. I would go to 4 All Mutt Kind rescue to get another dog in a heart beat.

We are a 100% foster based, volunteer run, all breed rescue. Our mission is to provide a stepping stone to the most at-risk pups via a strong foster based network and training support to our fosters, adopters, and community. While we can't adopt ourselves out of our current crisis, we can provide a pawsitive impact to those pups in our care and bridge the training gap in our community. We are a science based, force free rescue, founded by certified dog trainers, with a mission to educate our community on dog behavior and canine learning. We regularly team up with certified trainers and behaviorists, vets, and vet behaviorists to ensure every canine in our care is set up for success.

Thousand Oaks, California has been a safe haven for Sniffspot host, Jen, since childhood. Having grown up in busy Santa Barbara, Jen, an introvert from an early age, would seek out solitude and serenity away from tourists attractions and droves of people visiting from elsewhere. “My grandparents own 60 acres about a 30 minute drive from here, and I grew up spending every summer and every holiday visiting them on the ranch,” Jen explained. “In Santa Barbara, we wouldn't go to the beach on the weekend because that's where everybody was, so you'd find places off the beaten path where the tourists weren't. For me, the ranch was just my happy place.”

At our rescue, we are not only dedicated to matching our dogs with the perfect home, we are also dedicated to educating our community about the benefits of spaying and neutering as Dalis herself raised the funds to build a surgical room at our rescue where we host low cost spay and neuter clinics for the public. We are not exclusive to one area or county, in fact many people use our services from all over the state of Michigan and even some out of state including Wisconsin, Ohio, and Indiana. Dalis’ heart belongs to the misunderstood, the old, and the disabled. She always says that her goal is to rescue, but that her dream is that one day she won’t have to.
